RE: Can't play 4K file
Update: Tried many files on the Open Hour this afternoon, cannot seem to play many higher bitrate, especially H264 high bitrate files, which stutter and freeze constantly, audio and video. Tried a few of the HD-Club 100mbit files, can't play these.

Are these too high bitrate for the system? As I can play low bitrate files.

RE: Can't play 4K file
where do you play them from?

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

Chameleon 16GB SD 32GB micro SD <-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 + 6 Bowers & Wilkins speakers.
10 NTFS 2TB USB drives on 3 hubs attached to a A400, 2 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB, 2 Seagate Central NAS 4TB.

RE: Can't play 4K file
USB Stick localised formatted as NTFS

This is one file I cannot play.

http://demo-uhd3d.com/fiche.php?cat=uhd&id=84

Edit: In addition to the above clip I cannot play the following also, this appears to be the case for most high bitrate files.

http://demo-uhd3d.com/fiche.php?cat=uhd&id=35

Timelapse footage suffers frame drops also, and skipped frames. I have tried SPMC and the stock player, and mxplayer.

HEVC seems so far better supported. Although I haven't had any high bitrate HEVC to test. Mostly lower bitrate stuff.

Many Thanks

RE: Can't play 4K file
these file play fine, I think your problem is your Internet connection.
Try downloading and play from local.

If you have an old USB2 Stick you will read about 10MB/s. This is too slow. GB-Ethernet gets you about 100MB/s even with an consumer-NAS. As far as i remember UHD content have peaks until ~35MB/s

RE: Can't play 4K file
my advice would be to get a fast 32GB micro SD card for this test stuff.
For real usage a NAS with a clean network or a 3TB USB HDD.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

Chameleon 16GB SD 32GB micro SD <-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 + 6 Bowers & Wilkins speakers.

RE: Can't play 4K file
Even when reading from a USB hard drive some 4K files won't play at all or play with stuttering. The best chance of getting them played is with MXPlayer installed.

RE: Can't play 4K file
A lot of 4K files are unsupported which is why Mediainfo output are required.

I use this diagram:
[Image: hdmi%20limites_zpsfz6orutt.jpg]

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK
