Speed of new chips & android l/tv releases
With Sigma new chips are released on a far slower scale than those for Android devices.

There are still some essential features that wont come until Andriod L & TV. Will rockchip guarantee an android l release for this chip?

New android chips come thick and fast. Even minix seen as the better of the manufacturers releases models quickly.

Whats your plans in terms of new chips, android l for the 3288, linux, etc.

I agree, and have the same concerns. The last thing I really want to see is "Android TV & Android 5 is only supported by the RK3422". Buy a new box!

There are tons of these 3288 based boxes out there tho, so I think there will be some form of update path.

Hopefully someone from CM will let us know. Communications is not really CM's strength tho, so I'm not holding my breath...

Hi,

According to the CPU Manufacturer (Rockchip) they will support Android L and android TV.

Over here, we will push for it too...

ps: Nexus already release their own Android TV box.

Nexus android TV is WiFi only.... which makes it problematic for HD usage... I think..Sleepy

Not forgetting NO 4K output... but what is interesting is the Android TV OS which is available sooner than i personally anticipated.

Are you planning to integrate the Android TV OS?

This is something I really interested in.

RE: Speed of new chips & android l/tv releases
Having the Gecko which is a hisilcon chip same as the Himedia range have and the OHC the Hisilicon chips are excellent but closed. You cannot root or do many things that are expected on open Android setups. Then Hikmedia go and do a RK chipped player thereby losing all of their rep re releasing players based on the Hisilicon chips. Seems strange thing to do and the opposite of what CM have done as they have gone from RK to Hisilicon chips due to RK's problems releasing stable nice and smooth SDK/drivers.

Read at Freaktab re the RK3288 and the other RK chips and you'll see a trend.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK
