HDMI random disconnections with black screen
Hi,
Since I did the first update of the firmware some months ago, for my Open Hour Chameleon I'm experiencing randomly the following problem.

While moving among the various options of the user interface, the TV screen goes black for 2-3 seconds then reappears. At times the black screen remains for longer and the TV set an LG 42LW650G, says that the HDMI is not connected.
The only way to temporarily fix it is to switch off the device or unplug it.

I don't remember this to happen with the original firmware that was delivered with the device, but honestly was few months ago and I am not 100 percent sure of it and can't remember which OS version was installed at the time. For sure I noticed the problem after the first OTA update.

The Black screen event is randomic, and gets more frequent after a couple of weeks. In that case it happens almost at each scroll up or down in the main menu, at each move left or right in one of the main menu items or selecting any of the menu items.

Immediately after a reset it's not so frequent but tipically happens when, from the main menu screen I select APPS-ALL APPS option. The screen goes black before showing the small overlayed window listing the icons of all the apps. At that point if I go back and reselect the option the black screen does not happen anymore. If I leave the Chameleon on its own for a while, at the next access to ALL APPS it happens again.

Right now I've tried swapping the HDMI port, problem remained, and using different HDMI cables, problem remained.
I've tried forcing the video settings from AUTO to 1080P at various refresh frequencies but the problem remained.
Have not yet tested with lower resolutions 'cos I've actually bought the Chameleon to handle high resolution videos.

I'm currently using the Firmware Release 1 0 24
The Chameleon has a 64GB microSD installed and the wireless receiver for the Air Mouse with Voice that I got in bundle.
I noticed that the problem seems to be more frequent when I have a portable USB HD connected to the Chameleon, but it happens even when it is not connected.

I couldn't find much on the forum about this issue, can anyone help me to understand or find out if it might be a SW or an HW related issue and find a fix or workaround to it?

Best Regards
Paolo

Here is how to grab a logcat etc:

If you want to contact CM support then you do via the CM website and registering at support.

Make sure you take things out that may be causing a problem. Did you always use the 64Gb card as officially only 432Gb is supported?
Have you tried changing HDMI ports?
Tried changing cable?
Etc.

Tnx for your help Chris57.

Yes. Tried everything. It's a good idea to have a few log files.
Cloud Media already sent my to Rockchip a week ago.

EDIT: Roll back to 1.0.13. This problem is gone.

No it isn't... do some heavy scrolling in SPMC movie listing..

RE: HDMI random disconnections with black screen
My OHC has the same problem. When I scroll though SPMC the HDMI signal goes out every 3-5 sec....

Running 1.0.24 firmware

It makes the box unusable again...

RE: HDMI random disconnections with black screen
If it's unusable you probably have another issue you should fix.

RE: HDMI random disconnections with black screen
So you think that the box is usable when you dont have a picture or audio for more than 2 seconds every 3-5 seconds? If I play a movie its ok but listening to music doesnt work at all. I have around 14000 tracks on my server. With that bug you cant select any track while listening. Screen and audio on -> screen and audio off -> screen and audio on -> screen and audio off...

As long as a file is playing I dont have any disconnects. If I start using the remote the screen goes on and off like a slow turn signal on your car.
