Did you see this:

We may be saying goodbye to spmc and rklibstagefright and hello kodi with mediacodec due to Rockchips attitude of not sharing. Wonder if when android gets there if rockchip will still be there? Mind you by then we could all be running Windows and Kodi by then Big Grin

How do you install wasser firmware on the chameleon? Tried writing to sd card but it didn't boot up.

RE: [split] HD audio fixes/sources not supplied to SPMC development!
It's not as simple as every ROM for the RK3288 will work on any RK3288. Have a read over at Freaktab and see what others whom have used ROM's have to do to get them working. Obviously if the ROM is stored on NAND RAM as opposed to a SD card like on the OHC then there will be path and partition differences. The likes of XDA and Android Central may also have information on how to tailor ROM's for certain devices. Another good idea is to have TWRP or similar as the Recovery on yuor box if you are going to get into things like this.

Then there are things like certain dpi's only work on certain devices. It's something that perfectly possible but it needs better skills than I have, we need some advanced Android guys to setup say Wasser for the OHC. You could try working with them if you're up for the challenge. Then if you get it working upload it somewhere and post the URL with a few screenies and a lot of others would give it a test.

RE: [split] HD audio fixes/sources not supplied to SPMC development!
Is the OHC still on sale out there? lol

I dont think it will be working within the next 2 years. Its a big fail product.

Meanwhile I build myself a HTPC with a i7 4790k and a GTX 960 running Win and Kodi. Now I have a HDMI 2.0 4k60 player that plays nearly every file and HD Audio. It uses a shit ton of power (50 watts idle) for just a "player" but hey it works.

I gave the OHC away for free to a friend. Its not even worth trying to get your money back. Its shit and they know it, thats why they wont take their crap back. My friend only uses 2.0 shitty tv speakers so its good enough for him, since the LG tv doesnt even play files with DTS.

Threw your OHC away and build yourself a nice HTPC its just not worth fucking around with android and watching movies laggy and without HD Audio.

Wink

Good luck getting it to work some day. Maybe Rockchip decides to be not so much an asshole to everyone so you can finaly enjoy a working OHC.

RE: [split] HD audio fixes/sources not supplied to SPMC development!
Hi all, after a while of testing i can share a couple of findings. It is possible to use rockship videoplayet as external player in spmc/kodi only if movie file is local (usb or sd card), it it not possible to use external player for network shares. The Es file explorer video playet plays Dts-hd ma on mkv files, maybe there is something to pick up for spmc developers?

From what we are reading at freaktab the spmc developer has now gone away from rockchips rklibstagefright in spmc to mediacodec in kodi, so you'll see kodi rather than spmc in the future. How that'll be implemented and tailored for android we wait to see.
