and a VTEN does do HD audio, files over 30 fps and iso.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

Chameleon 16GB SD 32GB micro SD <-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 + 6 Bowers & Wilkins speakers.

UHD only 30 fps. Big Grin HDMI 1.4 cant handle more than 30 FPS at 3840x2160. My TV cant display a 4:2:0 3840x2160 60Hz input signal that would make 60Hz over HDMI 1.4 possible(with quality loss). It needs to be 4:4:4 3840x2160.

I'm keeping my eye on the NVidia Shield Console (http://shield nvidia com/android-tv). It seems to have all the features that one could want from a media player and has a SOC provider that seems to be interested in selling their boxes. Not sure how cooperative they'll want to be with regard to KOBI/SPMC, but at least it's one to keep your eyes on.

(I had to replace the .'s in the URL by spaces because this POS forum software doesn't allow me to post URL's, so replace them before using the URL)

koying tell whether Rockchip definitively refused to provide sources? Whether it is playing for time and deliver? I mainly bought the OHC to use KODI and if it is to be so many problems that need to sell it and look for something else Sad

Until Rockchip decides to release this functionality is it really that big of a deal to watch a 2D show or movie in DD or DTS 5.1? If it is if you take another 10 seconds after you find the movie you want in SPMC to click the home button to go back to the Android menu and then select the folder and movie you want you can watch with the native player. The native player works for 3D ISO and DTS-HD and True HD. Now if one of the clever coders on here can figure out how to incorporate the native player into SPMC then everyone will be happy.

RE: [split] HD audio fixes/sources not supplied to SPMC development!
I was so happy when I got my chameleon, the perfect thing for my 4K TV and av system. Now, months later it sits there just watching my Amazon Fire TV get all the use. I can't use the chameleon for either 4K content nor HD audio. Maybe one day it will go the way of the boxee box, the makers will get a better offer to make a better product and someone will get the info to make an obsolete product work as promised, two years too late.
I feel bad for Openhour, they made a solid box with cutting edge goodies inside just to get ripped off by Rockchip. I bet if they could turn the clock back and use Amlogic they'd love to. At least with some of the poorly made Chinese junk, people have gotten Openelec working.
The selling point of the chameleon was it's flexibility and range of options available including Ubuntu. The hardware isn't supported by either android or linux, it's such a shame.

Sometimes, and sometimes not. You start a movie, all is fine. You start the next day a movie, no sound at all. Very unreliable.
The player has not preferences, it start every movie with the false sound or the false language, you can't chode the behaviour on subtitles and so on.
Its not a shame on the player, since it is advertised as a simple thing, but it isn't usable daily practice.

No, a wrapper isn't the solution. you can't switch the video in the backround, the KODI settings for language, subtitles and so on aren't used.
At now a $30 RPi does all the things incuding real resolution and fps switching better than the OHC.

Rockchip is a much bigger company than AMLogic.
They also now released the RK3368 processor with PowerVR 6110 GPU.
Imagination Technologies actually want to develop an open source GPU driver for that GPU for Linux.

For the RK3288, I'm getting the new Lollipop 5.1.1 box firmware around 20 June.
I also already use Kodi 14.2 on Xubuntu on my RK3288 device for 1080p videos with hardware accelerated playback.
Working great so far, just a few videos have a green stripe at the top but that will be fixed in the coming weeks. Maybe with a newer Kodi 15 RC3 or final.

Has anyone seen anything new following the earlier information on Windows coming to the RK3288?

I think it will be released a few weeks after official Windows 10 that is released in 2 weeks time.

There is now also new micro_stutter_fix firmware for RK3288 on freaktab forum if there are OHC users that complain of that problem but you will loose wifi.

If you were to load one of the freaktab firmwares on to the chameleon would it work?

RE: [split] HD audio fixes/sources not supplied to SPMC development!
Yes you can use other ROM's but as Dewet states above you may lose some functions. You lose wifi as the chipset for wifi is ac on the OHC dongle and a different chipset to the other RK3288 devices.

You can also build custom ROM's for the OHC and post them in the forum's custom ROM section.
