Some questions before purchase
hey,I'd like to know some tech specs:
Software like kodi or the default build in player:
1.Will it support 4k/60p/3D?
2.HD audio pass through: Dolby atmos, true hd,dts hd MA?
3.Hevc, 10bit?
4: All together:HEVC 4k 3d 60p+hd audio.

Thanks

HD audio pass through is a no. Probably in the future but I would never guarantee that.
265, 4k, 60p and 3d as far as I know yes...however I ve never tried it.

As for now my advice to you is to wait or check another device if you have something in mind.

RE: Some questions before purchase
Yep it supports 4.4.4 60p 4K as opposed to 4.2.0 30p 4K.

It will play some 10bit and some Hi10bit but no hardware player will ever play everything those crazy anime guys encode at for their cartoons.

HD audio is till being worked on by the chip manufacturewrs as its a HDMI blob issue that is taking sometime.

I have about 20-30 animes, 1080p etc (though most 720), icyBox couldn t play all those, OHC can.
I think 4k with 60p and 3d with a high bitrate probably is a though one. (my OHC uses for big files about 10% CPU, however full HD...means you are at 40% with UHD alone and if I remember you have to get 2 Picture depending on the 3d tecnology? Wouldn t that be 80% unless your framerate goes down?)

Also if your software does most of the encoding, you can add 50%as it is slower than hardware encoding.

You can correct me if I am wrong.

RE: Some questions before purchase
Here's an interesting breakdown of the HDMI specs:-
[Image: hdmi%20limites_zpsfz6orutt.jpg]

Makes interesting reading, the PCH Vten can play those in green. The OHC can play far more and indeed my testing of Hi10p showed that although that was testing not 4K.

It's going to be very interesting to compare a Sigma chip vs the RK/Mali combo which looks the more powerful. Also I see lots asking about 4K streaming but many wont have the required speed on their internet connection in any case, 15Mb/s is required for Netflix 4K. Plus as we know streaming is never as good quality wise as Bluray sharing. Those and the power to play and even share will be very hard to judge. Exciting times waiting for an OLED 4K TV to appear at a decent price and im going in on the 4K market. 3D I gave a swerve to.

RE: Some questions before purchase
I would relax and wait. 4k is like Star Trek unknown country at the moment. I think 2016 will be the year it becomes mature including blueray 4k. For now the product your looking for doesn't exist in the hardware range of low powered afordable android boxes or nucs.

Y'know, I think, I think that a week from now, you'll be less in the mood for being amusing.
