4k Resolution with firmware 1.0.13 Beta
Hello, could anybody with a 4K TV please test a 4K resolution pattern with this firmware ?

I have a JVC projector (X500) that accepts 4K signal and displays a quasi-4K picture. it does not work with patterns, but there are some areas with clear improvements when the signal is truly 4K (I became familiar with specific scenes, and know what to look for). I can see them when I use my MINIX 8H, but when I am using OHC (with Resolution as AUTO and Auto-framerate ON) It looks as 1080p upscaled. The projector is indicating the input signal is 4K30p, so OHC is sending the right resolution and the file I am playing is 4K.

Thanks in advance for your help !

Are you playing this via an USB-thumb directly fitted into the OHC? It is well known that playing via SMB-shares scales down to HD. You can use NFS, wich works in my case.
On the other hand the display quality of the OHC isn't good.

Yes, I am only using USB HDD as my playback device. Have you tested with 1.0.13 ? Did you test it with Resolution-Auto / Frame-synch-ON ?

Thanks for replying. I am just trying to confirm the configuration others are using are the same as mine.

(1.0.13B)
I have tested this connected via AVR to a 2160p/60 TV and the testpattern file. The picture quality is inbetween 1080p and playing directly with the TV.

Thank you - there seems to be something wrong with OHC then (at least with this FW)

RE: 4k Resolution with firmware 1.0.13 Beta
I'm not sure what 'the picture quality is in-between 1080p and direct to TV' means?

Is the whole 4K image displayed when using the direct connection from the player to a capable 4K set? If so then it's displaying 4K resolution.

Are you saying that the quality of the actual image although correctly displayed for resolution is not as good a picture as you experience when using an AVR? It seems that the opposite is being stated in which case the output quality direct to TV gives the better image, which seems strange if using an expensive AVR with a good scaler chip in it.

Always test using the Native player as well.

Before anything can be fixed it needs to be explained so that it can be tested , reproduced, and fixed if its a problem. We aren't there yet. Some Rec videos showing the issue would be great for others to get what the issue is, as they always say a picture paints a thousand words.

Finaly the thread links this to only beta13, is it fine on the others then on your hardware?

It has more details than the 1080p picture, the testpattern indicates 4k, but it isn't sharp and crisp like the native player in the TV.

No, even without the AVR, wich has onlay a 2160p/60 passthrough, the OHC direct connected to the TV has not the same good picture as a thumb stick played directly in the TV and the internal Player of the TV.

Is 4K in 24p/25p/30p working correctly?

Also, could you do, when connected to a 4K TV, an "adb shell cat /sys/class/display/display0.HDMI/modes"

auto
3840x2160p-30
3840x2160p-25
3840x2160p-24
1920x1080p-60
1920x1080p-50
1920x1080p-30
1920x1080p-24
1280x720p-60
1280x720p-50
720x576p-50
720x480p-60

Our 4K test videos shows correctly on SPMC on 24p/25p/30p. Can see the very fine black lines in between white lines instead of the gray and white smudge together.

BTW, SPMC seems to work fine if connected to an 30p max HDMI. If the chameleon is connected to the 60p HDMI, it falls back to 720p/60.

Mmm.. I don't see a 4k@60 in the device modes, so not sure I understand where/how this mode is set...
Could you do the same cat but with "mode" instead of "modes" when you enable this 4k@60 mode, please (this is the actual active HDMI mode)

I don't have the 60Hz 4K TV with me now, from my previous record:

3840x2160p-60
3840x2160p-50

The /sys/class/display/display0.HDMI/mode is setting the same value as the modes, with just single value, like:

3840x2160p-25

Yes, my framerate sync in SPMC (display refresh rate match the video) in 4K resolution is switching to 1080p resolution. For example, the display is 3840x2160p-30 and when I play 24fps video in SPMC, the display switch to 1920x1080p-24 instead of 3840x2160p-24. Then I stop, the display finally switch to 1920x1080p-60 instead of the original 3840x2160p-30.

But that was a proper operation, if a movie is 1080p the display switches to 1080p.

On my setup it stays with 720p/60.
I have two scenarios with adj framrate:
1.) connected to the 2160p/60 able HDMI port, chameleon is setup to this res
- on start, SPMC switches the resolution to 720p/60
- SPMC itself says in the sysinfo 3840x2160
- by changing HDMI port or going to the setup i can switch back to 4k
- playing movies let SPMC fall back to 720p/60

2.) connected to the 2160p/30 port and setup chameleon to 4k/30
- on start, SPMC stays with 2160p/30
- SPMC itself says in the sysinfo 3840x2160 at 60p
- alle the movies stays with 2160p/30 and doesn't switch to the right resolution or framrate

Forgot we were testing 1080p videos or 4K videos last time. I will test again right now.

EDIT:
You are right, looks like we were testing the 1080p videos last time. Tested on 4K video does not switch to other resolution or refresh rate.

No. SPMC only switches refresh rates on Android, not resolution.
