DTS and Dolby with their many flavors only work if the audio playback device in your case the TV knows how to handle the audio protocol and is licenced to do so, some expensive display do Dolby and DTS.
The audio settings in the XBMC/SPMC should match the playback capabilities so don't set it to DTS and Dolby passthrough if your TV can't handle it... cause you will get white noise or silence..

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

Chameleon 16GB SD 32GB micro SD <-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 + 6 Bowers & Wilkins speakers.
10 NTFS 2TB USB drives on 3 hubs attached to a A400, 2 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB, 2 Seagate Central NAS 4TB.

RE: 20141231 (1.0.10) - Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Can I downgrade from 1.0.11 to 1.0.10 using the offline firmware update ?

Audio sync is bad on 1.0.11 for standard output. Eg not using pass through on spmc. Using showbox app.

Y'know, I think, I think that a week from now, you'll be less in the mood for being amusing.

Yes, you can downgrade to 1,0,10,

mine, on 1,0,11, using spdif passthrough, video and audio never sync in standard player.
with 1,0,10 it the audio and video sync perfectly and no stutter.

RE: 20141231 (1.0.10) - Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
I recently bought this device and so far im loving it! Never had a mediaplayer before that works so well out of the box as this one!Smile

Have one question though...

Im soon going to upgrade my reciever/surround that supports dolby atmos.

So, does the OHC support atmos or will it be supporting it in future firmware upgrades?

Best regards

HAHAha no it will NOT, and I'm almost 100% sure that it will never support Dolby Atmos, it only support what
i can read 5.1 audio and not more, and in the near future HD audio like Dolby HD and DTS HD Master.

RE: 20141231 (1.0.10) - Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
We dont have the benefit of a crystal ball or anything from an official source on Atmos. It's supposed to be backward compatible so we should still get audio but Atmos is not claimed in the specs.

Having a read here:
The Dolby Atmos format was designed to be backward compatible, so it will play on both new and existing hardware platforms. With this in mind, you should purchase the Dolby Atmos® version of content (i.e.: movies, games, etc.) whenever that is available. If you upgrade your equipment in the future to Dolby Atmos-capable products, this will unlock the ultimate experience from Dolby Atmos content. In the meantime, you will still experience great surround from Dolby Atmos content through traditional channel-based systems.

So they want you to buy the Atmos version of the Bluray and hope that by the time you upgrade your receiver that Dolby Atmos is still the new kid on the block. It'll be interesting to try and I suppose I should try it now to see if downmix works for us direct to TV types.

RE: 20141231 (1.0.10) - Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
SO..what is the technical pass through difference between Dolby trueHD and Dolby Atmos, and why do you think any player that does Dolby trueHD pass through won't support Atmos pass through?
And what does almost 100% sure in your case mean? not a clue...

Here is one: http://www.dolby.com/us/en/technologies/...atmos.html

Content Delivery

For home theaters, Dolby Atmos will initially be delivered via Blu-ray Disc™ or through streaming video services. All decoding, rendering, and processing is managed by the Dolby Atmos enabled AVR. Dolby Atmos content plays through standard Blu-ray™ players and streaming media players connected to the AVR via HDMI® and with the bitstream output function engaged. As with the cinema, Dolby Atmos content for the home enables compatible playback through conventional 5.1- and 7.1-channel systems.

Your Dolby Atmos Home Theater Setup

Dolby Atmos combines traditional home theater speaker layouts with additional speaker positions. These include either on-ceiling speakers or new Dolby Atmos enabled speakers designed to reproduce the overhead height layer of objects and sound.

The good news: if you already have a 5.1, 7.1, or greater surround sound system, you'll most likely be able to build on it. And it need not take up any more space than your current system.

SO... I'm almost 100% sure that if you have a Atmos AVR and speakers it will work when Dolby trueHD passthrough works, if you have an non-Atmos AVR that does Dolby trueHD it will work as trueHD.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

RE: 20141231 (1.0.10) - Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
I do not think we will get it on the Open Hour Chameleon, and almost 100% sure means, Almost surely, what don't you understand about that????

And that means i can be wrong, but Dolby Atmos is something TOTALY different then Dolby HD or DTS HD.

But hey i hope i am wrong :-)

But yes if buy a new Receiver buy one that have support for Dolby Atmos.

RE: 20141231 (1.0.10) - Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Well your hope came true.... you are wrong..

On bitstream/passthrough level there is no difference between Dolby trueHD and Dolby Atmos.. no new hardware required on the mediaplayer or BD player side..
on the AVR side the ATMOS effect is an add-on to two channels that will be ignored by non ATMOS AVR's who then play trueHD.... a ATMOS enabled AVR will extract the two ceiling speaker signal.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

Of course, no one should ever buy the OpenHour on the promise that HD Audio of any kind will ever work at all. I believe that has been the advice given in the past. Buy the product for what it does, not what is promised.
