Put some spaces between the problem phrase and I'll edit afterwards.

We had to put spam filters in which can be annoying until the forum clears you and moves you status upwards. Remember patience is a virtue Big Grin

Meanwhile I did the following things:

- Copy the latest android image from the homepage
- Burned it to ab image
- Installed the last update
- cleared the flash
- installed Kodi again new.

Now kodi is not working anymore. After loading a file over the network kodi crashes complete.
Network connect with samba (smb) isn't alredy working.
Everytime wron username/password, although the credentials are working from other maschines like windows or linux pc.

The box is still unuseable. I send it back. What a pitty.

Kodi Stopped working after the update. I had to uninstall and re-install the beta version. That works sometimes - the cache gets full and all the plugins start crashing, Kodi becomes dead again ( crashes on launch) . Same cycle repeats. How much longer do we have to wait for a stable product?

RE: 20141106 (1.0.6) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
yes, it's beta beta betta better to send it back.

After wasting over on weekend of time without getting any solution. (By the way I am no Android or Linux professional) I will send back that box to the distributor. It#s within the 14 day's return cover. It's a pitty. The box has a good hardware design with no fan and the option for a changeable operating system. But for something that don't work, it's too expensive. And by the way I hate products which are created for development at the customer side (Banana products / Bananas will also get usable at the customer).

A good product should be usable from not technical experienced customers for example from my girlfriend or my grandpa. This product did'nt meet that recommendations. They will throw it out of the window
if you tell them before watching a movie you have to deinstall the working system and install and configure the xyz-program or you have to erase the cache. That all seems to be a bad joke.

I have also copied the ISO many times to the SD

Installed several times the Android and the Kodi XBMC
They say it's running 4K. Not the VGA resolution is running without stuttering.

I found also out that the box seems to be uncompliant to many of the USB-Harddisks. It's the same situation in former times, when you had
an USB Harddisk which has a too big power consumption. The motor is restarting every time and the head are positioning at the end. On normal
computers there is no problem.

Although there is is no way from the working system to connect via NFS or SMB to a NAS. You have to configure it in the application.

I had seen something like that the last time on Windows 311

The login via SMB or NFS executed on other computers works properly
No bad password or wrong username message

So I can only wonder who did the quality check before starting the selling
Some weeks ago I had another similar product called Orbsmart
It was the same worst quality too
This all may be the result of using a working system which was created for mobile phones or tablets for a video box

RE: 20141106 (1.0.6) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
We are in the process of QA the new firmware that optimize for SPMC v13.3.4 beta 1 (fork from Gotham 13.2) with RK3288 optimization. So far, various stablity issues like seeking crash, skip chapter causing playback become fast forward mode, non 16:9 ratio video being streched that happen in beta-kodi-rk3288-20141107-armeabi-v7a.apk is working properly in SPMC v13.3.4 beta 1 with new firmware now. 4K playback optimization also available in SPMC v13.3.4 beta 1.

Target the firmware and SPMC v13.3.4 beta 1 will be release this week. Please take note that SPMC v13.3.4 beta 1 will not work with current 20141106 (1.0.6) Beta firmware.

Thanks for supporting Open Hour.

RE: 20141106 (1.0.6) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
After a couple of tests, I can say that basically im facing the same problems that everyone else.

- No audio using the "default" media player
- XBMC / Kodi no sync between audio and video

I don't know if this is really a problem or not, but using XBMC / Kodi, playing 1080p videos some of them stretch the video (removing the black lines) and others dont. Is this a problem from the version or is a problem of configurations? I searched in the configurations and i cant find out option to configure this.

The video stretch problem will be fix in SPMC v13.3.4 beta 1 with new firmware this week. Moving forward, Rockchip will fully support SPMC instead of their custom Kodi build.

Thanks for the information.

By Rockchip supporting SPMC, will that mean that the path to getting the necessary changes in to the core Kodi codebase will be come easier?

Not necessarily... there obviously is a reason for SPMC's existence otherwise it's code would be incorporated each release as any code of SPMC is open source..
The inner politics of xbmc.... don't probe to hard on their forum... they can get mean.

So does that mean no Helix for me but an older but optimized SPMC Gotham XBMC build is the way to go?

RE: 20141106 (1.0.6) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Cloud Media why not Kody, why SPMC????

Are we also getting Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 in SPMC???

And when are we getting Rooted Firmwares, because whats the point of SD-Cards if we cannot change anything in the OS.

And when are we getting images of a OS that we can install (flash) on a 16GB SD-Card or bigger so that we heve 16GB storage
or more and not have to put another SD-Card in the back to have more then 8GB storage.

And guys here is a Clip of Big Buck Bunny running in 4K at 30fps on the internal player with Firmware 20141118_1-0-7

Type this code in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tpbLTlLaq8

Sh*t that i cannot use URL yet. Mod Edit to make that work

And why a 4k video with only a bitrate of 5545 Kbps, why not 4K video with a bitrate of 50,0 Mbps (thats 50000 Kbps) or more?

Even the Minix Neo X8-H can play 50,0 Mbps 4K movies without any problems.

Even my 1080P MKV movies are 10,0 Mbps or higher, 5000 Kbps is nothing even much older Android TV Boxes can play that.

Here is a 50 Mbps movie: https://mega.co.nz/#!cptAnbgT!RL0Z5FQBbz...Soggiu8sEU

Points are * Mod Edit to make it work

I think you will get Helix, but it will come in time. Just need to get the device/chipset integrated first.

RE: 20141106 (1.0.6) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Update: I have Dolby Digital 5.1 in beta-kodi-rk3288-20141107-armeabi-v7a with Firmware 20141106.

Even all my Movies that have DTS 5.1 is now Dolby Digital 5.1 :-)

But DTS 5.1 is of course much better :-)

But my movies do not run well they are stuttering badly in beta-kodi-rk3288-20141107, i have stuttering every second, like it
has problems with buffering from my NAS true SMB protocol.

UPDATE: stuttering goes away when i disable Passthrough in XBMC (Kodi) :-(

Is there a fix for that thanks.

And i STILL have the hard static sound when i pause a Movie in the internal player and hit play 3 a 5 seconds later again, please
fix that BIG problem.

And i found another problem, when i try to play a 4K Movie with Media/Video/SMB/ or Tools/FileExplorer/Network/ i get slow motion,
Sound is ok but video goes in slow motion.

I do not have this problem when i go into Kodi and then to SMB to my NAS.

And sometimes when i try to look at a movie or TV Show true Media/Video/SMB/ i get a error and says i have to use a name and code,
and i do never have this problem with FileExplorer or Total Commander or ES File Explorer.

So please also fix does problems.
