RE: 20141107 (1.0.6) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
I am having problems with the OpenHour. Every now and the screen turns green/purple-ish. After a while it turns back to normal.
Now I have had this problem before with my TV decoder provided by my cablecompany. Seems that the issue is caused by HDCP and
the televisions inability to coop with it. They fixed it with an software upgrade and a change of settings (to RGB).

Does this beta help me with the green-purple issue as well?

RE: 20141107 (1.0.6) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
OK, now this is much better. A 4.2GB HD AVI that was stuttering badly is now rock solid. I watcher the sections that were the worst and no more stuttering. Also the Seek/Crash issue seems to be fixed as I fast forwarded several times and no crashing, went right back to the video. Thank You, much faster work than I expected. I will be sure not to update KODI until they get it working with the same tweaks as Rockchip embedded. Still need to watch a video all the way thru to check on the audio sync issue.

Ok that is much better. Using something like
http://lundman dot net/MotionBars_720p60 dot 000 dot m2ts

I only get the very occasional microstutter. I can live with that.

In kodi test: I have been seeking around in videos and have not had any issues yet. (Neither crashing out, and static). Much better. Passthrough does still not work correctly in kodi/xbmc though.

Built in DLNA player stutters still, passthrough works. But with the large icons and stutter, I tend not to use it.
Ah correction, if you quit XBMC properly, then built in DLNA doesn't stutter, any more than xbmc.
(have had static after a seek in the build in player)

Before everyone rushes out to buy a new SD card, Win32DiskImager ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/ ) allows you to make a .img of the SD card you are using now.
So you cannot use it to write the BETA.img but only the ones from the WiKi to the SD and make a backups first incase you want to roll back.
The BETA img is a upgrade process as described in post #1
For XBMC there are backup add-on's that will save your database and coverart/info data.

RE: 20141107 (1.0.6) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
I didn't bother backing up and had to re-set everything back again.. doesn't matter, it only took 30min to re-set up.

What I have found is..
1. video stuttering is 50% reduced.
2. pass thru doesn't work
3. skipping thru video doesn't crash but is very messy...
- all my popcorn hours skipped forward 30sec at time very quickly and seemlessly.
- all my popcorn hours let you use the number pad on the remote to jump forward 10%, 20$ etc 90% flawlessly.
- why is this so hard to get right?
4. what is still an issue is that not all my movies appear
5. what is still an issue is that not all my tv shows appear, only 20 different shows out of 40.
- i dont understand why this is happening?
6. what is still an issue is that when sorting anything by date, certain movies that appear in popcorn hour in correct date list doesn't appear correctly in OHC.

RE: 20141107 (1.0.6) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Look kostas this update is only suppose to fix the listed items... So it is sort of obvious that the issues not listed still exist...

For your benefit here is the list again

- Playback performance tuning and more fixes on stuttering problems.
- Fixed XBMC seek crash problem with beta-kodi-rk3288-20141107-armeabi-v7a.apk.
- Added SAMBA support on Video App (early beta stage).
- Added BDMV support on Video App.
- Improved on Advanced Settings, Display settings.
- Other UI changes and fixes.

so on your list:

1. check
2. not listed so obviously not fixed for xbmc usage... note it does work using internal players.
3. obviously this is not a popcornhour...
4. appear in what? xbmc... local player? note DVD VIDEO_TS folder playback is not supported in android, looks like they are working on BDMV first.
5. some of your TV series on DVD?
6. sorting where... in xbmc?

Just added a note on post #1. This update firmware (update.img) cannot be used to directly burn to SD Card using Win32DiskImager.

As Willem said, you can backup your SD Card to your PC first using Win32DiskImager before update it to this beta firmware on Chameleon. Then, later you can roll back using the backup image. For more instructions, please refer to http://wiki.openhourlab.com/index.php/Bu...d_and_back
