No Rockchip RK3288 support for HD audio?

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

Chameleon 16GB SD 32GB micro SD <-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 + 6 Bowers & Wilkins speakers.

RE: SPMC 16.1.0 has been released
video is working perfectly without stuttering or other problems. just perfect.
passthrough is not working but its normal because Rockchip RK3288 support for HD audio missing!!!
It will be perfect if Rockchip and Koying work together to fix all the bugs and release a really stable firmware!!!
Just an idea Open Hour!!! Smile

Koying had not to work with Rockchip together and there are no bugs to fix in this case.
Koying have released the official google API for passthrough. (in the code he asks about API V23+, and if this is the case, PT works)
A player, even if not mentioned in the softwaredescription of SPMC will automaticly play all the HD sound if the firmware is proper programmed.
What we need is: that rockchip removes the dirty hack for PT and implement the proper way.

and until then we play with the "dirty hack" that is working well.

shure, but not with SPMC or newer KODI's. we have to eat what RK maybe give to us, and if they won't give us some stuff (where is KODI 16 RK at now?) we have nothing.
Thats the advantage of implementing standards instead of implementing hacks.

not for the most people.

What do you mean.... not for most people?
I'm sure it works the same for everyone, checkout the firmware thread and the user feedback about it's OK now.

RE: SPMC 16.1.1 has been released
I prefer a stable tailored Kodi that works, simple.

Only thing i'm awiating is Kodi17 as it may have the rk codec in it as standard someone posted.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK

RE: SPMC 16.1.1 has been released
Post from Koying: Specifically for RK, the worst part was that I wanted to implement the same level of support as for AML.
They just denied me the sources of their player to allow me to do so, so they actually don't want Kodi to properly support their SoC (or they're just plain stupid, or their player infringe on OS licence. +rkffplayer+ is highly suspicious name for a closed source player).

All RK stuff immediately went to the "junk" closet, and I suggest all Kodi users to do the same...

Y'know, I think, I think that a week from now, you'll be less in the mood for being amusing.

RE: SPMC 16.1.1 has been released
Kodi want things done in their own time. RK released passthrough, h265, etc quicker than Kodi which they didn't like.

Their development is now a bunch of bullyboys with too many American attitudes. Too many ego's involved with too many followers.

Happy with my 15.2 rk as simply put it works.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

you don't see the point: it has nothing to do that RK released something fast.
KODI had implemented passthrough via official google API, h265 was supported via mediacodec surface etc.
They (KODI devel) don't want to install specific RK hacks
- because these hacks breaks the proper working of other devices
- RK doesn't communicate with the KODI developers

If RK give more than a shit on there users they have to implement the google API for PT and create a proper mediacodec surface driver. Wich means in reality: RK have to release a Marshmellow OS for their hardware- PRONTO!
And than KODI can operate like a charm.

The time that someone implement RK specific things in KODI was over, as RK nor OH had communicate with develeopers like Koying.

RE: SPMC 16.1.1 has been released
I think the heat is on for RK to come with the right Google API based on their hardware let's just hope they will not skip the RK3288.
It's been a big step for Kodi to adopt the google architecture... we know it wasn't easy.
