@POPA110

I'm in France, i've also reported this point to Netflix support, they said they'll register the device in further version. I hope so ...

RE: Netflix Support
In the UK they are really pushing Netflix with six months free deals with some suppliers. The more responses that i would change but as its only sd the better to those annoying sales calls Wink

Most likely no. As of right now android needs a locked bootloader and Widevine DRM for 1080p playback.

but this device is a 4K player
so 1080 p is the minimum quality I expected !

Good we agree... go tell Netflix to stream HD.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

netflix wont do anything without a locked bootloader and who knows if the rk3288 even shipped with Widevine. So might have to ask for these things first before complaining to netflix.

After netflix 2.4.1 it required a locked bootloader to store the secure widevine keys.

So for HD playback you would no longer be able to flash different android roms or linux. So maybe would have to ask OH for a locked bootloader firmware for people wanting netflix HD

RE: Netflix Support
Yep that's something that we dont want!!

Whether its even possible is another thing, plus Netflix have let CM down before so I cannot see them being too enthusiastic.

RE: Netflix Support
how does that locked bootloader fit into the "all on SD" design?

RE: Netflix Support
its not ALL SD design the rk3288 has a 20KB BootRom and 100KB internal SRAM this is how the process looks

Soc powers up and initializes.
BootRom code runs in SRAM, loads and verifies bootloader's bootstrap code from storage device.
If the verification passes, run the bootloader bootstrap code.
The bootloader initializes DDR RAM, loads the complete bootloader into DDR RAM and runs it.
Bootloader loads Linux kernel from storage device, then executes it.
Linux kernel takes control of everything now.

Info from firefly project

if its allowed you can always run adb and try fastboot oem lock to see if it allows locking. then run drm checker and see if widevine is loaded

RE: Netflix Support
So it locks in DDR on the SD..... and we run Netflix..

switch of... use "other" SD card and do the rest...

So my question is can we have a Netflix dedicated SD card with locked bootloader and another one for the rest.

RE: Netflix Support
Or a dual boot system, one that had locked DRM for the likes of Netflix and one that open for us to use as we see fit.

That sound great, that's a good idea for the Netflix users.
