I have the uncomfortable feeling that the date of purchase was the time to throw the piece of shit into the waste. I do not think we ever get a working device.

Last one was 9 weeks ago...and supports Kodi 15.2 no reason to assume support is dead.
very few were sold and RockChip support is poor so priority is low but CM has a good support record to uphold.

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
l've given one of the kids the Gecko, runs propriatory kodi, and installs it on pressing kodi in ui which i seem to think someone thought was essential.
Anyway its older kodi version that the ohc and works fine.

OHC has newer propriatory kodi than gecko and finally now works well enough to be my daily android player.

As soon as RK3288 updates to a new propriatory well get it.

Kodi is making me love simple GUI's again and even with vpn its getting harder and taking longer to get unofficial links of a watchable quality.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK

I updated to version 40 Beta and now get the colors wrong in Kodi Yarvis.

Anybody know how to get this right again?

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
after more than one month testing, exept very few bugs that thing is now working. the situation is the opposite as before, from the 20/30 files I throw at it since the last 6 weeks, everything was reading just fine. i did not have one single issue while the playback was running, nada.

for me it's just perfect, the only thing that would be cool would be to fix those small bugs remaining like the fact it sometimes freezes when you go out from a pause in a movie.

the coolest would be to take out that custom rockchip driver package from this special kodi release and somehow turn it as an addon that could be added into the official kodi. I don't know if this is only possible by the design itself but that would be ideal Cool

Kodi development has distanced itself from android resulting in a breakup of the development team. Koying is now doing android in SPMC as a Kodi fork, to bad Rockchip dropped dealing with Kodi development and made their own Hack. We can only hope they view the succes of Nvidia android wint SPMC as competitive and submit their driver updates to Koying.

they are not "distancing itself" from Android, they have no one in the world to be a maintainer for android. If someone will do the work, they have again an official maintainer.
Koying was the "old" one and won't do it any longer.
If they had "distanced" fritsch would never implement the PT in KODI 17. He had this done even, if he had only linux boxes and no android.

they don't have to submit there driver updates to koying, they have to implement the API Level 23 for "official" passthrough sound and they have to implement proper mediasurface drivers for the video. And than will surprisingly SPMC and the KODI V17 run without hassle.

semantics...
breakup vs old maintainer new maintainer..
implement vs submit..drivers

Whatever... I'm to tired to even bother with Kodi politics..

No

Quote:breakup vs old maintainer new maintainer..

they do not drop the android platform, they just have no one who supported

Quote:implement vs submit..drivers

submit - koying has something to to (no, he don't have something to do)
implement - RK or Open Hour have something to do, but they have to count their money instead of programming.

Quote:Whatever... I'm to tired to even bother with Kodi politics..

KODI has nothing to do with politics now - they have already delivered a finished KODI ( OK an "alpha " version now ) with 4K and HD sound - it's all ready and Open Hour have to pull their fingers and do something.

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
I have a Yamaha RX A-1020 AV/RECEIVER and I want to have Audio Passthrough (that one I have sorted out) and Auto Video output (4K@30Hz). What confuses me is the default enabled Video Accelorator libraries.

What should be turned on / off for: libstagefright, MediaCocded, RockshipCodec? Why are the three of them and what is the best configuration?

What are the best settings when using a AV/R. I don't won't any downmix or smart fix of either audio / video. Simply pass the streams to my AV/R and let that device manage audio and video.

Any advice?
