RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Looking good so far. Did a clean install on original sd card and all movies I have tried seem to play fine (but that is just trying each movie quickly). Look forward to trying Kodi with NPVR (Not sure if addon will work).
I will try a clean install on my 64gig at some time to see if that works fine.
Keep up with the good work

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Found a new problem while @ 4K resolution:

-On Native player, when 4K60 files are played, they are downscaled to 1080p60. Not sure if this could be related, but my projector can only accept 4K30. With all previous firmwares, OHC would play those files at 4K30, instead of reverting them to 1080p60.

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Right gave it the night and then set the following:

Android: HDMI 1080p/24 with frameratesync enabled
Kodi RK: Video playback adjust to display rate set to Always, libstagefright disabled and roklib/mediacodec enabled.

Managed to play the MKV that last night would not play without a few gaps without any audio gaps or stutter. Simple stereo downmix here. Happy and going to change over the OHC with my daily player to give it a fuller test.

Don't use the native player as it cannot decode so cannot test.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
It seems that in 1080p everybody is reasonably happy.

I think OHC needs to do further testing and debugging @ 4K, but we are really close to a very good firmware.

Thank you all !

Guess it switches based on content data playback requirements.

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Like others people all woks fine now.
I have no AVR.
Clean install with Chameleon SD card 8 Go

same setting of Chris

Quote:Android:
1 - HDMI 1080p/24
2 - frameratesync enabled

Quote: Kodi :
1 - Video playback adjust to display rate set to Always
2 - libstagefright disabled
3 - mediacodec enabled
4 - rockchipcodec enabled

- lipsync issues fixed
- pause / play goes smooth
- no gaps, no audio gaps or stutter
- navigation with fast forward or skipping goes smooth
- file 1080p 23,976fps et 60fps 10bit H265 works fine

If the Chameleon stay stable with time, this FW is very good for me. Smile
Perhaps the next big update will be to have the possiblity to use the official Kodi or custom kodi updated ...
I love Kodi 16 with the new future "long press"

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
I doubt we'll get the official Kodi as it doesnt have RKlibstagefright or all of the differing AVR passthrough options if i recall. We may get SPMC though as thats android aimed and Koying has an OHC. We may also get RK Kodi 16 in the future.

Let's get backl to the now and after a good 6 hours of use the audio issue is still there. However I can watch a whole file and its perfect or it can happen more than once on a file. These are caps not proper controlled backups and its now possible to have the player for my goto finally.

I did a bit of native player via EMC playback and for non Dolby files they seemed fine. The OHC does not give Dolby downmix so no use testing a lot of MKV's so I use Kodi or MXPlayer.

On the hardware acceleration I too have wondered why do we have mediacodec when rklibstagefright should be our hardware acceleration. However remember that until recently Koying was working on Kodi's mediacodec specifically for android compatibility. Mediacodec is the general google approved android way for video playback with rklibstagefright having the propitiatory Rockchip acceleration for those unfamiliar. Like Willem says I bet they specific the best one for each type of playback.

I made a clean install and made all the recommended settings in custom Kodi.
But now there is again no audio at all (AVR Pioneer VSX-920) only static and crazy beeping sound. (DTS aswell as DTS-HD) Audio was pretty ok with 1-0-33.

I will try my luck and play around with some settings...

Ok, I have to correct what I said yesterday. Angel

I forgot about one very essential android setting. My "Audio Output" setting was still on "Default Output" instead of "HDMI Bitstream"... shame on me... Blush

I also do like the second workaround for the "no audio during initial playback" from the post of openhouradmin, where you leave android on 1080p60 and set "Pause during refresh rate change 11 seconds" in Kodi.

Strange. I observe the opposite, i.e. in each movie I have had to manually add an audio offset of 100ms-300ms (depends on the movie) to get the audio (speech) to sync with the actor's lips. It's been this case with every single standard and RK custom Kodi release including the present and all MKV container movies regardless of their respective sound format, i.e. AC3, DTS, DTS-MA.

Did you burn onto a SD card rather than updating the other way?
Did you read the notes re lipsync and other settings?

I'm using downmix and not seeing sync issues on any formats yet using Kodi.

Has anyone been able to get the chameleon to play 3D ISO's properly? In Kodi it only plays 2D. In the video app it switches the tv to 3D mode but stretches everything. The Gecko at half the price is light years ahead of the chameleon for me. It just works.
