Did you do the below settings when you turn on "Adjust Display Refresh Rate" in Kodi?

In Android Setting:
HDMI Output set to 1080p24Hz

In Kodi Settings at Acceleration:
libstagefright codec disabled

If "Adjust Display Refresh Rate" is off, the above workaround is not necessary.

Yes did set HDMI Output to 1080p24Hz and libstagefright codec disabled.
Will test with "Adjust Display Refresh Rate" set to off

No my friend!!! you have to set "Adjust Display Refresh Rate" to Always when you set HDMI Output to 1080p24Hz and libstagefright codec disabled. all working perfect with this settings. be well.

with these settings all working great!!! of course without lipsync problems that build .33 had.

In Android Setting:
Framerate Sync enabled
and
HDMI Output set to 1080p24Hz

In Kodi Settings at Acceleration:
libstagefright codec disabled

In Kodi Settings at Adjust Display Refresh Rate set it to Always

I have Onkyo TX NR646 and for me it's OK with HDMI Passthrough Audio + Kodi Wink

See compatibility with firmware and hardware HC

What receiver is that and how did you setup Kodi?

Clean install, onkyo TX-NR609. I changed the kodi settings mentioned in the update post, nothing else.

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Right looks like its best to start with a SD card in your PC and flash the firmware there. Then give it a try.
Quote:Notes: Please use the SD Card burn image if possible for cleaner update.

Keeping my fingers crossed that I can watch TV without downmix st, st, stutter.

Notice that the release has gone from 1.0.33 to 1.0.40 so there's been a lot of engineering builds in between so I'm hoping that I see the success others have.

Setting to 1080p/24 with frameratesync on.

edit: done the update and inserted the card. ~It took a very long time before I got the OH Home screen and thrn longer to populate the icons. Also got the Android little man setting up my SD card upon boot, its a 32Gb card so it expands the SD card to make use of all the space as opposed to the firmware image size this way.

edit2: kodi rk loaded first time and the quit, probably to iniate settings. Restarted and got black screen for a good 4 mins before seeing kodi logo. Then another 2 mins to Home Screen.

Patience is required at all stages.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK

Try updating the SD in a PC and use the custom Kodi.
With the right Android and Kodi settings it works like a charm.
navigation with fast forward or skipping goes smooth in my setup.

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
For me at first try, this new firmware is a total disaster. Sad

I made a clean install and made all the recommended settings in custom Kodi.
But now there is again no audio at all (AVR Pioneer VSX-920) only static and crazy beeping sound. (DTS aswell as DTS-HD) Audio was pretty ok with 1-0-33.

I will try my luck and play around with some settings...

OHC >> HDMI >> AVR Pioneer VSX-920 >> HDMI >> TV LG 55LE8500

8GB SD-Card
Firmware 1.0.33
Custom Kodi
Working DD, DTS, DTS-HD, TrueHD
Occasional audio drops (approx. once/twice in a movie duration)

16GB SD-Card
Firmware 1.0.40
Custom Kodi
Working DD, DTS, DTS-HD

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Tried only one MKV so far from a SMB share with the new Kodi, 1080p24 in android, framesync No in Android, frameratesync start/stop in kodi, libstagefright disabled in Kodi.
Still got audio gaps/stutter but that could be the Google Apps installing as just added my google account, could be Kodi addons updating, walking away for the night i'll try both android and kodi framesync to enabled and always.
Downmix to stereo only needed here no hd audio.

Another workaround for no audio during initial playback in Kodi

Instead of HDMI Output set to 1080p24Hz, you can try below setting in Kodi

libstagefright codec disabled
Pause during refresh rate change 11 seconds
