RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Very good job overall ! Some early impressions:

- Kodi is much more stable !
- Atmos works in a stable way now
- 10bit HEVC working fine in Kodi (nice !)
- DTSMA working fine in Kodi, with few exceptions

Issues found:
- Subtitles in Native Player are no longer showing Portuguese special characters (i.e. ã, é, etc). It was working before, so something changed.
Also, on Native Player on MKV files the subtitles become out of synch.
- There are some 4K HEVC MKV files that have no DTSMA sound in Kodi, while they work on Native Player. Stopping and restarting doest not seem to address those specific files.

Great progress overall, it looks very close to being a final firmware !
Thank you !

Funny you should write what you did Confused On my end burning this new image to the factory SD card as per official instructions simply bricks the device causing a black screen, nothing boots any longer - dead as dead. No amount of secondary burning (even burning back the 1.0.33 Beta version) to the SD card (i.e. in case the original burn was corrupt), or even erasing the SD card and THEN burning fixes things. When Cloud Media wrote that this is a quick beta with next to little testing they really meant it Big Grin

Perhaps you updated via the Android route and not the Win32 Image burner route...as they say this Chameleon is un-brickable, then again the Titanic was unsinkable too.

Oh well, can't all be sunny sailing can it.

I used the Win32 image burner as I always do - it worked normally...

Well the card is visible and accessible in Windows. I wonder............hmmm, will have to scratch my head over this most likely. The only thing I can think of is that the file table is corrupt on the SD card, but if this was the case then reburning the image either directly, or first formatting the card then reburning would solve that.

Thanks for your thoughts either way.

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
burned image on original 8GB SD... worked
played one DTS MA in native player with occasional audio clip then fallback to PCM 2.0
Still tweaking RC custom KODI but first impression shows a big improvement in playback but HD audio still clipping occasionally so not usable for prime time.

more later.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

Chameleon 16GB SD 32GB micro SD <-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 + 6 Bowers & Wilkins speakers.
10 NTFS 2TB USB drives on 3 hubs attached to a A400, 2 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB, 2 Seagate Central NAS 4TB.

Did you do the below settings when you turn on "Adjust Display Refresh Rate" in Kodi?

In Android Setting:
HDMI Output set to 1080p24Hz

In Kodi Settings at Acceleration:
libstagefright codec disabled

If "Adjust Display Refresh Rate" is off, the above workaround is not necessary.

stupid question: if we set this, is
"3. Added support of 4K H.265 TS in Kodi"
playing 4k possible or would it be downsized to 1920x1080p?

What about lipsync issues? The previous beta firmware caused the audio / video to get out of sync sometimes.

Yes did set HDMI Output to 1080p24Hz and libstagefright codec disabled.
Will test with "Adjust Display Refresh Rate" set to off

kind of obvious that set to 1080p it will downscale to 1080p but it might be that the HDMI EDID or the handshake could overrule... please test and let us know...

Completely unusable for me as all the other firmwares so far.

All movies tested starts correctly with DTS/Dolby (an improvement) but fails after a few minutes and the reciever falls back to full mono. Stuttering and delays still present.

Clean install or update?
What receiver is that and how did you setup Kodi?
