RE: 20151023 (1.0.33) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Glad to see its working better for you.Smile

I'm using Downmix and have to have Kodi15 with mediacodec, not any Rockchip acceleration, otherwise its audio dropouts even though 23.976fps plays perfectly now they have not sorted the audio issue. I have a stable SD , the supplied one with Kodi15/MC, which I use for daily use.

I then have a second SD card with the newer firmware and RK Kodi version so that I can get the benfit of RK acceleration. Playback of the video is great but the audio st,st, st, stutters. It seems to get worse the more you use so I'm thinking memory leak or buffering.

If Rockchip don't get this RK3288 working then I don't think I'd be expecting a OHC2. Remember OH have also the low priced Gecko model which although only around a third of the power of the OHC simply works. However its a tied down chip that you cannot root or get into the inner wokring or has as good a communioty support as the RK chips do on the likes of Freaktab etc.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK

RE: 20151023 (1.0.33) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Other manufacturers already released Light Biz Os Lollipop for RK3288 with working Netflix and 10-bit color support.
There is also a new Kodi 16 with pass-through from Rockchip(still being improved).
Unfortunately OHC is so far behind with support and damaging their reputation as a good media player company.
Rockchip release new SDK's and patches on a regular basis and if manufacturers don't want to invest in after sales support they can't put the blame on Rockchip for their mistakes.

RE: 20151023 (1.0.33) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
I assume they will come back to the Chameleon after the current projects are finished and it's clear that their is enough demand.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

Chameleon 16GB SD 32GB micro SD <-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 + 6 Bowers & Wilkins speakers.
10 NTFS 2TB USB drives on 3 hubs attached to a A400, 2 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB, 2 Seagate Central NAS 4TB.

If you are of the pessimistic type then the answer is most probably never (some prominent bugs will never get fixed)

If however you have some optimism within your soul then I think the next 6-12 month time-frame is realistic.

Whether the Open Hour Chameleon will ever be a polished (i.e. finished) product is an altogether separate topic.

Better be surprised on the up than get your hopes up and be smashed back down to reality.

Hello Open Hour Admin,

Knowing that another firmware version may take a while, could there be any updates at least to the RK custom Kodi made available to us users ? I saw on Freaktab various versions of Rockchip Kodi-16 for other RK3288 media players.

Thank you.

RE: 20151023 (1.0.33) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
I'm so disappointed with my purchase and the company attitude.
The only reason i bought the android box from cloudmedia was ONLY because they used to have a great post sale support, as I owned popcorn hour A-110.
I could save myself half of the cost and buy any cheaper box from and would end up with same result and (NO)support..such a shame and frustration grows when you are asking for help on this forum and that does not mean too much to whoever runs this company who USED to be great.

Thanks. It appears from reading the posts in Freaktab, that Rockchip has indeed provided SDK updates for Lollipop.

I don't think we necessarily need Lollipop to be happy, so whatever decision OH R&D choses is fine, as long as they get back to supporting this product.

RE: 20151023 (1.0.33) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Just a few statements would go along way for customers who have had this box for over a year.

Truth and understanding is all the customers want.. God knows people have been hanging around this forum long enough in the truth.

It would appear that other rockchip devices have overtaken the Chameleon now.

I have migrated to Asrock N3700-ITX braswell. I've gone back to using Dune D1 in the bedroom as its more stable with HD than OHC.

Y'know, I think, I think that a week from now, you'll be less in the mood for being amusing.
