Gecko power ac plug dimensions?
Does anybody know the dimensions in mm of the plug from the adapter. I want to buy a 5A EU power adapter to eliminate the audio drop outs.

Thanks

RE: Gecko power ac plug dimensions?
Que? What makes you think that it will draw more power than it needs and that audio has anything to do with power?

Remember there is more to it than simply dimensions you have to match the polarity of the adapter. Why spend more on something that won't do anything?

I have run my Gecko/OHC/Vten on each others PSU's.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK

RE: Gecko power ac plug dimensions?
I'm getting audio drops outs and even advancedsettings. xml cache enlargement doesnt really help. So why not try a new power adapter. I read some forums on rasperry pi with Kodi and there was told that some equal problems where solved with a larger (more Ampere) PSU.

Not ignoring you I will measure for you.Big Grin

Looking at the reverse of the Gecko its a standard 5V/2A PSU which is why it works just as well using either the OHC or Vten remote. You are suggesting that using a 5V/5A PSU will make a difference?

The other PSU's may have been specced and also may have information re polarity etc. usually centre positive iirc, here's a quote on polarity@

Quote:Polarity

This one catches many people by surprise, especially when replacing simple or small power supplies with generic replacements.

Most power supplies provide DC (direct current) power via two wires labeled positive and negative. Polarity refers to which wire is which.

Just because the physical plug into your device matches doesn’t mean that the positive and negative connections are hooked up the right way. In fact, there’s often no real standard.

Particularly when it comes to popular circular power connectors, make sure that the expectations match: if the device expects the center connector to be positive and the outer ring to be negative, your power supply’s connector must match. If the device expects it the other way, the connectors must still match. There’s no getting around this.

Often, you’ll see some kind of indication on the power supply that will show which connector is negative or positive.

If you’re replacing a power supply that uses a custom connector used only by one manufacturer, then typically you don’t have to worry. Similarly, if the device is powered over a USB connector, that standardizes the connection, too.

I am now electric expert but I think of Voltage as pushed to the device and ampage was pulled by the device. So your device will only pull as many amps as required by itself. I can understand with a rasperypi with it being an electrical board that you can add to etc. that it may increase in its pull or ampage requirement but the Gecko is simply a media device.

RE: Gecko power ac plug dimensions?
Right just got my EU PSU:

Model: JK050200-S04EU
Input : 100-240Vac50/60Hz 0.5A
Output: 5V 2000mA

Tip length 8mm
Tip width 3mm
Centre hole is nearly 2mm
Centre Positive

No liability accepted, remember differing areas may have differing leads/psu.

I'm betting zero difference but as always trying hard to keep an open mind for you.

Haha, thanks!! My experience now is that sometimes I have severe sound dropouts
but when I unplug and replug the power the drop outs are gone.

RE: Gecko power ac plug dimensions?
sounds like a reboot to me, powersupply is still the same after you replugged it so that's fine?
it's the restart that fixes your issue so some running process is interfering with audio playback or a memory buffer is faulty and you're just waiting until that bad block is accessed again in the next busy playback.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.
