Btw, works great with my HDMI through my Onkyo 875. HD sound and all... first firmware to do so.

After installing the new firmware update and using the new custom Kodi >>> the hue of the videos is buggered = people appear blue / purple!

Does anyone know how this can be fixed?

No one else has reported this so it's been buggered by something in your setup or settings, I would look at the other posts and if connecting via HDMI make sure that the HDMI renegotiation is finished.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK

so it seems that there are fewer video glitches thanks to this firmware - but now there are moreof lip-sync issue + the audio goes away for a few seconds now and again

Did you resolve the other issue.

For me unless using mediacodec and official Kodi i get audio issues on all firmwares but i'm using downmix. This firmware with the rk kodi using rklib gives me far fewer audio issues, but they are now with the frequency others report, whereas in the past it was watchable now its annoying.

If reading and using downmix test the kodi - pause between refreah rate setting @0.60 and other values.

Finally by disabling only the codec named 'Allow hardware acceleration - Rockchip' and after rebooting Kodi, I can fast forward.

RE: 20151023 (1.0.33) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
I gave this firmware a shot this weekend and after tinkering with some settings I was able to get TrueHD and DTS-HD MA to come through the stock video player. Oddly enough, 2 channel AAC also works now over HDMI bitstream. I used to have to switch back to default output.

For what it is worth I grabbed a bunch of different sample files from http://www.demo-world.eu/2d-demo-trailers-hd/ - they have a bunch of DD, DTS, TrueHD, etc. My receiver won't decode ATMOS so I didn't bother with any of them.

The only real bug I encountered, and this is an old one, is that the SAMBA browser in the native video player app keeps generating duplicate hosts each time it rescans the network. Really it is just cosmetic.

Looking forward to the final release!

No I haven't resolved the other issue of video discolouration. I don't know where to start. I didn't change anything besides what was instructed in terms of the firmware update and the custom Kodi. Before those this sort of thing never happened - so logically it is not me but the other new factors. I'm not in the mood for this continual drama with audio and video issues = it's time to go back to the Mede8er 1000x3d (even playing the video files with the Samsung TV built-in decoder is much better)

this is not generic as in everyone has the same issue but just for your setup, something is broken or misconfigured, my first guess is HDMI port or cable.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

BulleTime was correct: it was simply a matter of the screen zoom / fit >>> fixed now

wish the other issues could be solved this easily..........

RE: 20151023 (1.0.33) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
1. I found on most movies strange audio track playback issue. It occurs on 2 ch. MP3 and AAC. I don't know if on other formats too. It occurs random. Except audio audio drops for about half of second, sometimes audio playback speed changes for about one second. Speed variations are like in old tape recoder when tape transport is not stable. I never seen it in previous FW versions.

2. I see that for playback 23.976 video without stutter must setup only last two option in SYSTEM/Settins/Video/Acceleration
- Allow hardware acceleration - RockchipCodec
- Allow Hardware 23976 optimize - RockchipCodec

If additionally set any other then video sttuter is again.

RE: 20151023 (1.0.33) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Yep I think that's something that we should all push on the forum now. To get the hardware working as expected you must use only the RK options in Kodi.

I have been using mediacodec obviously knowing that it took the RK ability out of the equation. Now that we can see that it's getting there we should switch over and of course those new to Kodi will not know the importance of those settings perhaps.

If i switch on these options i get the muted sound problem. The internal player have also a muted sound as described before.
Doesn't anyone else have the problems?

hallelujah

i redid testing this weekend with the first 2 hardware acceleration options DISABLED and now I FINALLY see a REAL difference. it's working much better

Sometimes (4-5 times on a 1h30 movie) you see that picture and sound fall out of sync but it's resynced after a few secs

I can't barely believe this device is almost beginning to work...1year after release we can say we have an alpha end, pre-beta device...

Now it is possible to actually use the device for something Smile

Now would it be possible to detail all settings that are not default ?

[
By the way, just saying, but I hate the setting page from the default Kodi skin and this retarded way to mix multiple settings relating to same topics in different places, it's just confusing and total non-sense. The guy who designed this should considerer stopping cocaine...And this standard/advanced/expert bullshit ... what the heck??? seriously, just ****** put everything in expert by default <_< what's the point hiding potential usefull settings and creating confusion for NOTHING ??? >>> in either way, kodi is used and installed by -at least- advanced users.
]

-start from a blank/scratch install. DON'T use the update (i tried from a previous older almost scratch install and it did not work like after the clean install)
-in android/advanced settings/picture, enable the auto framerate sync option
-in android/advanced settings/sound, change to whatever you want to use your audio output.
-in kodi/settings switch to expert mode
-in kodi/settings/acceleration, disable first 2 setting and enable those about rockchip
-in kodi/settings/audio, IF RELEVANT, enable passtrough and enable supported formats by your audio decoder. DON'T enable what your decoder does not support.
-in kodi/settings/video, set auto framerate sync to always on

-i guess it's not REQUIRED if, like me, you're using spdif for audio passtrough, but i also applied the "HDMI bitstream settings" described in the first post of this topic (basically, in kodi/settings, disabling audio standby and disabling kodi interface sounds).

-to access your files, if you have the possibility, ALWAYS choose NFS over SMB. It's just faster, period.

-A LOT of debugging still needs to be done. Of course those picture/sound out of sync issues. Generally, after 2h movie runtime, Kodi feels slow, sometimes it just crashes. Now we have at least something to work on
