RE: Gecko Bugfix Requests
Fine, now give me a one line bug description.

is it:

1 DVD folder playback fails in "optimized" Kodi HimediaPlayer but works if XML is changed to DVDPlayer
2 Video over SMB playback fails in "optimized" Kodi
3 2 fails if 1 is (not) set to DVDplayer

help me out here

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

RE: Gecko Bugfix Requests
Video playback using default hiplayer fails on some (see 16.08 onwards) SMB shares in Optimised Kodi.

so its 3. What I dont want obviously is for OH to simply try a SMB share and say works fine here. I need them to review the log to see hiplayer fail to init and play.

Thats confirm my findings about the wrong clock..
The untrained eye might not see it, but from the moment you understand what looking for will be very annoying every 42 seconds.

another interesting link from the Kodi forum regarding the HiMedia Q5 http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2127356

check out user HDMKV posts on the Kodi forum and ask him what his relationship with HiMedia is.

I remember the user @HDMKV for many years from AVS, Mede8er forum etc etc...
Me, him and a few others, we are here just for entertainment, for the fun, has a hobby.... theres no comercial relations with the brands, no Bias reviews, No fake nicks around the forums giving positive reviews....

Well you and the others could have fooled me with all the aggressive negative posts here on GPL and bugs as well as the posts on kodi forum.. non biased reviews... sure, like I said, read them again..

But my question was on this link http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2127356
Do these issues also apply for the gecko?

You most certainly do not have any of those qualities. Talk about unbalanced and delusions of grandeur!!

You have had an Agenda from Day 1. All anyone has to do is to read your posts made here and on the Kodi forum to very quickly see that you are biased, lack integrity, have zero moral compass, etc.

Log posted here:
http://xbmclogs.com/pn7ll337e

I've tried many SMB shares on differing devices using other login details and still no go. I can delete files using Kodi so its not a permission issue. I can play them via SMB from MediaCenter using hiplayer fine. I've tried MKV, MP4, BD ISO, BDMV, etc. and nothing will play. They will play in Kodi using DVDPlayer via Menu > Play using/with aswell.

Try add your SAMBA shared in Media Center and access that mountpoint in Kodi under /mnt/smb/ as workaround. In fact accessing the SAMBA/NFS shared this way have better performance.

RE: Gecko Bugfix Requests
You know I picked up on the comment earlier that kodi plyback using MediaCenter gave better performance but never put two and two together re adding the saved share.

Workaround works fine.

RE: Gecko Bugfix Requests
Oh hey, don't forget that they managed to break Kodi's ability to play from RARs, which is my only remaining problem with Gecko Smile

There you goWink

6. In the "optimized" Kodi the ability to playback from a RAR container is lost.

Correct Smile. I have zero affiliation with any brands or manufacturers. I get review units from some, but post harsh reviews if that's what I feel is warranted (Zidoo is an example), but good with the bad, and any ugly. They asked if I felt it was "shit" (their words) in my eyes. Maybe having second thoughts they sent me a review unit Wink.

With HiMedia, reason I like them, even though Q5 has bugs/issues, is that their engineers contacted me and asked if I can help. Their support, via Futeko forum, has also been fairly good. So, I said sure to HiMedia, and dragged two other Kodi forum members with me. Also HiMedia and HiSilicon (the chip manufacturer) are part of the same parent company, so more likely things will get fixed than... say Open Hour Chameleon & Rockchip.

And, if I really have any faith in a 3D player with Kodi right now, it's the Raspberry Pi 2 as Kodi devs are awesome, and Pi2 does framerates perfectly, supports both 3D MKV MKV & 3D ISO, and HD audio (decoded to lossless multichannel).

Here, just keeping up with what you guys are posting, your impressions. Will update my 3D players chart @ Kodi forum as firmware develops. Not buying a Gecko yet (unless Syabas/CM wants to send me a review unit Wink) as I already have HiMedia Q5. I imagine whatever improvements Q5 gets, Gecko will likely get as well.
