RE: New Product Launch - Open Hour Gecko
Possibly not the best place and time to post a new product launch?

If you had come with firm news on the previous product at the same time, it would have help smooth things out.

On a more positive note, I do like the new UI, very metro like.

However....

Why may I ask are you still looking a wireless N products apart from the cheaper cost of the silicon?

Also is 30@2160, what are the 4K specs?

Finally for now - optimised Kodi 15 support HD audio pass through. Having witnessed the debacle on this subject with the Kodi developer who endeavoured to resolve this, this is going to need substantial backing up with hard facts. We have been burnt here before.

Being a little bit naïve on this, how does Kodi support the x265? When and how, does this fit in, library wise? Who is responsible for what?

Apparently they didn't learn anything with OHC...

Btw, will this product be shipped free for everyone who bought OHC and is Alpha testing the product? Alpha testing I mean waiting for Jesus to come to Earth.

This is a diagram I found of the chipset:

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

It has a HDMI 1.4 and that sort of defines the limit.

that failure was contributed to the Rockchip Firmware and their support.
New Chipset so wait and see.

All manufacturers that used RK3288 have the same issues with Rockchip and are hammering Rockchip for support on behalf of their customers.
Don't forget you lost a few features you rightfully expected... they lost a full product lifecycle thanks to Rockchip.... nobody made any money there except Rockchip.

Rockchip is still working on a solution within their new framework but delay each time the manufactures report a bug.

RE: New Product Launch - Open Hour Gecko
Interesting and going back to having onboard NAND RAM as well. Also stays at 4k30 with HDMI1.4a whereas the OHC is 4K60 with HDMI2.0 with HDCP2.2.

Chip diagram shows 2xUSB2 and 1xUSB3. Wonder if that brings a possible USB3 speed increase or if its Slave and requires a PC to push to get USB3 speed?

Looks like CM has listened to us constantly complaining about the lack of progress of Rockchip, the fact that RK wouldn't work with the community, and decided to go with another chip SoC supplier. Let's hope this one responds quick, involves community developers.

I wonder what 'optimised' Kodi 15 is and if it will be part of the firmware and updated?

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK

RE: New Product Launch - Open Hour Gecko
Can we have just one thread where we talk about the new player, and not just making bitchy comments and snide remarks? I'm all for you guys all complaining all the time, but could just *one* thread be about the new hardware, specs and features etc Smile

Having said that, any future plans for chipsets that are ARMv8? I wants me some 64bit and zfs Smile
