RE: Openhour - please update your customers!
I'll have Stella please.

I'm hoping that OH release a firmware with just the 23.976 stuuter and other fixes rather than waiting for Rockchip any further. Rockchip we're on holiday 10-17 October with the rest of China so they've only had a couple of days this week but i'd cut them off if by this time next week the hd audio is not fixed. Never use hd audio like a lot of others.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK

I am happy I bought my two OHC players. They introduced me to Kodi which is generations ahead from NMJ. I did the right choice at the time.

However at this point support has dropped too much, the system is stale and contenders are thriving.

My next player will likely be a Nvidia Shield. Even though I may not need many of its extra features right away, it will be much more future proof, capable and fun.

Willem and Chris, your efforts are nothing less than heroic!
Thank you.

RE: Openhour - please update your customers!
I think the chances of nvidia offering better firmware support than rockchip are quite high. Nvidia will definitely be getting Android 6. I see no chance of that from Rockchip.

RE: Openhour - please update your customers!
no chance.... other than the fact they supply the SoC's in a lot of Google chromebook, tablet and stick hardware..?

What we all should understand is that mediaplayer users don't care much about the added feature of the next android OS release if it doesn't bring anything to the media playback experience......
and the average chromebook, tablet and PC on a stick User doesn't care about 23.976 fps on a 24Hz display or DTS-MA/True-HD passthrough.... as it is all irrelevant to their setup.

So don't expect any solution for those issues coming from Google, it has to come from the hardware vendor and a playback engine developer...
problem there is, that the relationship between Kodi and Rockchip can hardly be called professional or even respectful.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

RE: Openhour - please update your customers!
Exactly it is the additional hardware player, be that RK or Hisilicon, that you have to rely on for the more advanced options not Android.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK
