Android 6.0 "Marshmallow" Announced - will it come to OHC?
On the Android Developers Blog they announced the release of the Android SDK 6.0, the final preview for M and the official name of Marshmallow:

http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2...l-sdk.html

Thoughts on if this might spur on some vendors to release some updates? Will it cause more issues with underlying firmwares and older hardware to get dropped? Likelihood of our beloved chameleons getting an update?

I don't think lollipop has a positive impact on the RK3288 with regards to the current issues and its introduction would only add extra variables.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

No I'm not saying that.... "maybe can" is too vague........... I know nothing about marshmallow...
I'm saying we are not getting Lollipop because it doesn't solve the current issues.

You have just stated we are not getting lollipop/marshmallow because they will not address the rk3288 issues,so by defination, support for the chameleon is over?

no I have not, you have.. and stop trying to put words in my mouth.

I'm saying it is stupid to change the environment(android version) when you still need to solve some SDK issues based on the current OS version.
Do understand that android is a mobile OS designed for mobile phones the playback we have issues does not exist on mobiles... and your average Samsung phone user could not care less.
So our issues need to be solved at Rockchip and not at Google.....

Try twist my words again and you get a holiday...Dodgy

Personally I prefer Marshmallow to a hard sticky lollipop in my mouth. It sticks to my false teeth and I chatter the ivories all night.

;o)

Y'know, I think, I think that a week from now, you'll be less in the mood for being amusing.

I would have to agree. You don't change the OS in the middle of development without causing a delay. Fix the current issues and then look at the OS port. Moving to an new OS now would cause another layer of potential issues and WILL cause a delay.

Think this thread should be closed. It's not relevant at this point in time.

You might only use xbmc (or rather Kodi or SPMC) but I also use the android YouTube client (which is much more user friendly than the Kodi plugin) and browser.

So I'm really in favor of keeping the android version up to date. I even selected the Chameleon because of the fact that it was running Android (though the option to run other OSses was another consideration, it's just a pity that nothing useful ever came from this).

Well Android Lolipop works on a Rockchip 3388 Octa Core SoC so perhaps the same is true for Android 6.0. Let's home OHC moves to at least 5.1.
