Halleluyah, thanks for keeping us updated on the forum.

I saw a post mentioning a new framework by OH.

Have you tried it yet? I heard it had a lot of bugs and you'll need to add/compile a wifi driver for it aswell if using wifi as they are different between devices.

I forgot OHC use Mediatek wifi not Broadcom AP6335.
But sound, tv out & lan should work.

Hi Admins/Mods,

Is there any official status update on this available? Pending something? Not happening?

Not complaining or passin any judgement, just asking for an official update.

Yes, as a customer this is my biggest frustration with this product. It would be quite nice to get a simple statement such as: There were delays, but we finally received the drivers from Rockchip for Lolipop and expect to release a Beta firmware in August timeframe.

If you checkout other RK3288 player brands some do have android 5 Beta's out or claim to release soon, but there appears to be little value add with regards to the pressing issues.
I'm assuming Openhour is testing and won't release until they see real improvement on usability.... nobody needs a buggy android 5.0 on their player.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

Yep there are also patches for 23.976 stutter and hd audio in beta testing, check Freaktab as its where the talented android developers post updates. You can see what to expect in upcoming ohc firmwares.

I tested a Beta release based on latest changes from RockChip some improvements, but no stable fix for the major Dolby TrueHD passthrough issue... it didn't pass Openhour's QA testing and was referred back to RockChip for further development.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.

Where is Lollipop firmware for open hour?
According to this post it was suppose to come in Q1 2015.

Cloudmedia must be making very bad decisions choosing vendors as this is worst product I got from you comparing to previous popcorn hour devices.

You promise and do not deliver, worst than not promising, would you agree?

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Unfortunately its Rockchip we've been awaiting and will continue to await, reminds me of Sigma at times. I cannot see CM leaving it until its working without audio gaps/stutter as they've never produced a player that cannot playback files without audio gaps/stutter until this Rockchip player.

The hisilicon Gecko coming after the OHC kind of proves that, but as i've always said the OHC is the more powerful, can be rooted, and can be customised. It's a big step in the right direction, but the journey is not over yet, but as they say a little bit of encouragement goes a long way.

OHC > HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using standard Kodi(MC) 15.2 no hware/acc OK
Downmix stereo 1.0.40/RK Kodi(RKlib) 15.2 infrequent audio gaps hware/acc OK

No DTS downmix available for inbuilt eMC player

Gecko> HDMI > TV (Panasonic 42G20)
Downmix stereo using Gecko Kodi 15.0 OK
Downmix using inbuilt MediaCentre OK

In the meantime OH can do the port to Lollipop that was promised at Q1 2015. On Lollipop we can test and maybe use all the custom KODIs from Rockchip for the other boxes that have already Lollipop. We can use also a few other Apps designed for Lollipop like the Netflix 1080p App.

RE: 20160121 (1.0.40) - Beta Open Hour Chameleon Android Firmware
Please explain to me how to build and compile a OS when even the Hardware specific drivers for the current OS are faulty.
The way I see it the OS comes from RockChip as they need to provide part of the code.

Android is just a common core and presentation layer for a multitude of operating systems build for a great variety of hardware platforms.

Some focus on problems and faults others on solutions and success... no question who is the happy one.
